For our last camp of the year, we took 25 Beavers, 45 Cubs, 43 Scouts, 4 Young Leaders and 22 Adults to PGL Winmarleigh Hall for our annual Winter Camp. We all had an amazing time in fantastic surroundings. We climbed, abseiled, went on the zip wire and giant swing. We learnt how to Fence and built a buggy which we got to ride! We did a sensory trail where we got very muddy. We joined together for lots of campfire songs and taught the PGL staff new songs. We all came away very tired and some of us even lost our voices. but we had the best time ever and we can’t wait for our next camp!
I know the children will have told you many stories and they will never forget these camps. I attended the winter camps as a child, and this is why I enjoy them so much as I know what it is like going away from home.
But once the children are away from home, they form an environment of support for each other. They may have only just met but they all support one another to do things they never thought possible like facing fears either through activities or the fear of being away from home. They live in the moment away from technology and enjoy the short time they have away with their 5th Penwortham family.
Thank you to all the leaders that give up their time to allow us to put on these events and to the parents for sending their children and allowing them to grow and develop skills for life.
